About Us

The Birth of AYOBYO

Founded after two decades of relentless activism in the Black American and Haitian communities, AYOBYO was born out of a profound need to address persistent issues—lack of social services, inadequate access to quality healthcare, and insufficient educational and economic opportunities.

Meet Yabezwen Toropiton

Yabezwen Toropiton, a visionary leader and tireless advocate, stands at the helm of this transformative movement. For twenty years, Yabezwen has witnessed the struggles and frustrations of his community, the unmet needs, and the systemic barriers that keep progress at bay.

Determined to turn the tide, he knows that the answer lies not in waiting for external aid but in mobilizing the community’s inherent strength and resilience.

“We need to pull our resources together,” he often says, his voice filled with conviction. “We must do for ourselves what no one else will do for us.”

It is this spirit of self-determination and mutual support that forms the cornerstone of AYOBYO’s mission.”
